A note on this page. It's written in plain English and describes honestly how the service works. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor, so it shouldn't be treated as a finished legal document.
What this is
Mamas Recipes is a place to keep your family's recipes โ the cookable version, the exact words they were written in, and the photograph of the card itself.
Your recipes are yours
You keep ownership of everything you add. We don't claim any right to it. We store it so we can show it back to you and the people in your household, and that's all.
If you publish a recipe to the shared library you're giving other households permission to read it and save a copy into their own cookbook, with yours credited. You can unpublish at any time; copies already saved by others stay with them.
What we ask of you
- Only upload recipes you have the right to โ your family's own, or ones you have permission to share.
- Don't publish other people's copyrighted recipe writing to the shared library.
- Don't use the service to upload anything unlawful, or anything that isn't a recipe.
- Don't try to break, overload or work around the limits of the service.
Accounts
There are no passwords โ you sign in with a link sent to your email address. That means whoever can read your email can get into your cookbook, so keep it secure. Links work once and expire after 30 minutes.
Paying
- The free plan is genuinely free, and keeping your own recipes stays free.
- Family Plus is billed monthly or yearly through Stripe, and renews until you cancel.
- Cancel whenever you like from the billing page. You keep access to the end of the period you've paid for.
- Credits for handwriting reading are bought outright, don't expire, and aren't refundable once used.
- If we ever put prices up, we'll email you first.
If you cancel a paid plan, nothing is deleted. Your recipes stay where they are โ you'd just be back within the free plan's limits.
Handwriting reading isn't perfect
Faded biro and forty-year-old shorthand defeat it sometimes. Always check a transcription before you cook from it. That's exactly why the original photograph and her exact wording are kept alongside โ so the source is always there to check against.
What we can't promise
We look after your recipes carefully and take backups, but we can't promise the service will never be unavailable or that nothing will ever go wrong. If a recipe truly matters to you, it's worth keeping a copy elsewhere too โ that's sensible advice for anything, not just us.
We're not liable for losses beyond what the law requires of us, and nothing here limits your legal rights as a consumer.
Ending it
You can stop using it and ask us to delete your household at any time. We may close an account that's being used to break these terms, and we'd tell you why.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll email you before it takes effect.
