Privacy notice

A note on this page. It's written in plain English and describes honestly what the app does. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor, so it shouldn't be treated as a finished legal document.
The short version
Your recipes are private to your household. We don't sell anything to advertisers, we don't build a profile of you, and nothing you add is published anywhere unless you deliberately choose to publish it.
What we store
- Your name and email address — so you can sign in and we can send you a link.
- Your household's name and who else is in it.
- Your recipes — ingredients, method, stories, the source you attributed them to.
- Photographs you upload, including pictures of handwritten cards.
- Billing records if you subscribe or buy credits.
We do not ask for a password, a date of birth, a phone number or an address.
Who can see your recipes
Only the people in your household, until you decide otherwise. Publishing is done one recipe at a time, never in bulk. Her exact wording and the photograph of her card are held back behind a separate tick — sharing a recipe never quietly publishes her handwriting.
Anything you publish to the shared library becomes readable by anyone, including people without an account, and may be copied into other households' cookbooks with your household credited. You can unpublish a recipe at any time, but copies already saved elsewhere will remain.
Handwriting reading
When you ask us to read a photographed card, that image is sent to Anthropic, who operate the AI model that transcribes it, and the text comes back to us. It happens only when you choose to use the feature — uploading a photo without asking for a transcription sends it nowhere. Anthropic process it to return the transcription; they do not use it to train models.
Who else is involved
- Stripe — takes payments. Your card details go to Stripe and never touch our servers.
- SMTP2GO — sends our email, so they handle your address and the message.
- Anthropic — reads handwriting, as above.
- Our hosting provider — stores the database and your photographs.
How long we keep it
For as long as your household exists. This is an archive — deleting things quietly after a period of inactivity would defeat the entire point of it. If you ask us to delete your household, we delete the recipes, the photographs and the account.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we'll sort it. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
